About our Gillette concrete contractor business

Gillette Concrete is a family-taught concrete contractor in Gillette, WY, and we explain what goes under your driveway, patio or slab before we pour it.

How I came to pour concrete in Gillette

I learned concrete from my dad, working flatwork beside him, the driveways, patios and sidewalks that make up most home jobs, from the time I could push a wheelbarrow. He showed me early that a slab is only as good as the ground under it and the care it gets in its first days. I started Gillette Concrete here in 2013. Most of our calls come from homeowners planning a driveway, patio or garage floor, and from people whose steps or foundation have started to move.

Because of how I learned, I come out to look at every job myself and explain what goes under your concrete, and why, before we pour. My crew does the work with me on site, and I'm there on pour day, because the first hours decide a lot about how a slab holds up. I'll also be straight with you that some cracking is normal in concrete. We cut shallow grooves called control joints across the slab so the cracks that do come tend to follow those lines instead of running wherever they like.

Estimates that show what's included

Our estimates spell out what's in the price, like digging out and packing the base, the pour and cleanup. That lets you line our bid up fairly against others and see which one left the base work out.

The base gets attention first

When a budget gets tight, the base is usually the first thing people want to trim because nobody sees it once the slab is down. I'd rather spend on the base than a fancier finish, since a nice surface over settling dirt cracks anyway.

Care advice before we leave

Before we pack up, you get plain advice on looking after your new concrete, like how to handle ice and salt that first winter. Concrete needs some care early on, and a few simple habits help it hold up.
